Until very recently I had never experienced a “makeup and skincare party”. You know, one of those little events where a group of friends get together to test and potentially buy goodies from a particular brand. It was something totally new for me and I loved it. This party concentrated on the wonderful brand Tropic, who in all honesty I hadn’t really heard much about before hand.
So, a little about the brand? Tropic were founded in 2007 by Susan Ma who you may recognise from the seventh series of The Apprentice. The brand offer a range of skincare, makeup and body care products that are made with only pure ingredients. Tropic pride themselves on producing great quality products without resorting to animal testing or using any processes that cause distress to animals. How good is that?! So if you are looking for vegan-friendly products, this brand is totally perfect for you to try out.
Admittedly, during the party I was totally amazed and a tint bit overwhelmed with how much choice was on offer. From shower gels and scrubs to concealers and mascaras, Tropic have it all. I quickly jotted down my order and patiently (well.. I tried) waited for my goods to arrive. Until Tropic entered my life, I had never ventured out to using a highlighter in a cream form. I have made it well known in the past that I much prefer a powder formula of many beauty products, but this sparked my curiosity.
The Tropic Spotlight Cream Highlighter comes in 2 shades Sunlight and Spotlight. Sunlight is a deep gold shade and Spotlight is a soft pink champagne. Both look beautiful but I tried out Spotlight, which I feel works best for my skin tone. The overall formula of the highlighter feels very light and soft on the skin, which resulted in a very comfortable product to wear throughout the day. I found it took a little while to “warm up” in order to apply but the texture felt almost like a soft mousse, which I surprisingly really enjoyed about the product.
I never thought I would be a fan of applying a beauty product with my finger, we all know by now that I am a huge beauty sponge addict. As it happens, I don’t think any other method of application would work for this particular product and you know what? I didn’t mind. A little dab of the finger here and there was an easy and really effective method which gave great results. I feel like this also makes it a handy product to keep in your bag.
As pigmentation goes, this is not the most blinding highlighter the world has to offer, but the soft glow and shimmery tones look simply beautiful on the skin especially when the sunlight makes an appearance. The highlighter is of course noticeable but in a more natural way which I am a big fan of. I am really impressed and to be honest, quite surprised with how much I loved the product considering it’s a cream. Next time I won’t be so quick to judge cream products.
If you fancy grabbing one to try out for yourself (and I recommend you do), you can pop onto the Tropic website and order your own for £18.00. Go on, give it a try.
