I’ve spent the entire week feeling totally drained and low on blogging energy so it’s possibly a bit hypocritical of me to be writing this post and for that, I apologise. In general however I do try to stay as organised as humanly possible and I’ve updated my methods lately which has made a huge difference.
Let me tell you that staying motivated and organised in the blogging world is no easy task, especially when you are working full-time. I have been testing out what works for me and since the new year I have been using a trusty note book and pen. Sure, call me old fashioned but Sainsburys (of all places) have been bringing out some rather stylish notebooks that include a to-do list section and a weekly planner. How nifty is that? I have filled pages and pages of ideas for each day and I take it with me everywhere.
Another handy trick that I have been using lately is the mic button on IPhone Notes. Every time I have a new idea or feel like writing a post on the go, I click that perfect little button and just talk as if I’m making conversation. Sure it may need some corrections (almost definitely) but it can be a great time saver.
When it comes to motivation, that’s a whole new matter isn’t it? There’s the obvious one of reading other blogs. To be clear I do NOT mean copying.. just for inspiration and a bit of a brain boost. For me personally, I’m loving reading books that explore more blog related subjects. My Blogging Secrets by Amber McNaught has become my latest obsession and I can’t put it down. It’s a real motivator and it’s very insightful.
One last tip is something I’ve only recently truly took on board myself. Write for yourself first. I know it probably sounds incredibly self-centred but if you wouldn’t read it, how can you expect anyone else to? Of course it’s important to take into consideration what your readers are interested in, you can’t grow your platform without them but stay true to yourself too. It’s far easier writing about something you genuinely have an interest in.
And now feels like like the appropriate time for a Disney quote, wouldn’t you agree? So.. just keep swimming.
