The Big Discussion : Is YouTube For Me?

I don’t often post “discussion type” posts but I like the casual feel and the relatability. One of my 2018 goals was to take the plunge and start my own YouTube channel which I would love to say I have started but due to my own self-confidence issues, I haven’t.

The Big Discussion : Is YouTube For Me?

This has been playing on my mind a lot lately and the idea of holding myself back is something that really irritates me. Like so many others I strive for that attitude of “you only live once” but somethings are far easier said than done. For anyone in the same position as myself, I have created a little pros and cons because I really do love a good list.

I always start with the cons:

There will always be haters and I’m not sure my emotional state can handle that just yet.

Finding the time can be difficult.

Will anyone really watch? The ultimate fear of putting yourself out there.

What if I run out of ideas?

Pros that hopefully outweigh the cons:

You learn new skills including editing, filming etc.

Confidence grows.. atleast that’s what I have heard.

It’s another creative outlet.

You are able to connect with viewers on another level. More relatable perhaps?

Regardless of this list, starting a YouTube channel is incredibly daunting. The idea of putting yourself out there on another level is a scary concept to a lot of people, myself included. That all being said, I can’t seem to shift the want to finally get a channel up and running.

My questions to you are what are your thoughts on YouTube? Are you already a YouTuber? If so, what are your best tips? Join the discussion with me.

I have always wanted to start youtube but like you my self-confidence is so low. However, I do make ‘montage’ type videos of when I go somewhere or go on holiday! That way I’m vlogging but not having to hold a camera up at my face all the time! I’m hoping to vlog when I go away to Egypt and Disney World this year!

I love the sound of that. I’m going to Disney World again this year too. Hope you have a lovely time! X
