Lush Jelly Face Mask Review : The Birth Of Venus

I’ve been talking a lot about skincare lately but what I haven’t mentioned is the new jelly face mask I have been using from Lush. How cool does that sound? That mask is called The Birth Of Venus which sounds like it should be very impressive don’t you agree? This is my first encounter with a jelly mask and I was super excited and intrigued to give it a go.

So the mask itself claims to tone, refresh and soften your skin with its use of natural ingredients. These ingredients include fresh sea water, carrageenan oil, rose petal infusion, lavender and many more little gems. Admittedly I am not a huge fan (or fan at all) of lavender, but the scent is still pleasant enough and not too overpowering.. thank heavens.

The is a mask that makes you feel like your taking part in a mini science experiment and I really enjoy that about it. You take a small amount of the jelly and rub it between your hands to create a paste-like texture. It’s both fun and exciting for your inner child. You apply the paste formula to your face and leave for 5-10 minutes to work into your skin.

I was surprised that the paste doesn’t dry out or harden a great deal, but equally this ensured that the texture remained comfortable on my skin which I really appreciated. After the recommended time you simply wash away with water. There’s really no mess, no tough scrubbing and my skin did in fact feel softer and more nourished after use. What else could you ask for?

I never would have picked this up for myself, but since being gifted this wonderful tub for Christmas, I would happily purchase this and be more open to other jelly masks too. For £6.95 I’d say that’s a great price! It may be a jelly but it’s certainly not a gimmick.

I tried this mask too, back when they were first released and as much as I loved the look and feel, it turned out I was allergic! My whole face came up in a rash sadly. I’m glad you had more luck with it!

I love, love, love the jelly masks! Bunny Moon and FOMO are my faves, but I’ll have to give this one a go. Their sea themed cleanser, Aqua Marina is my absolute holy trail and completely saved my skin last year xx
