It wasn’t too long ago that NYX‘s latest foundation Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop hit the shelves and I knew I needed to try it out for myself. Being a big fan of NYX I’ve adored a lot of various products including the Total Control Drop Foundation, the foundation that totally changed my previous opinions of drop formulas. I had no doubt that this new foundation would be just as impressive, that was until I found out this was a matte finish foundation (something I’m not too keen on these days).
I held back from pre-judgement and steered clear of all online reviews. A couple of weeks after release I grabbed my shade and applied. On first impressions the foundation blended beautifully but gathered at my T-zone (something that I’ve noticed a lot since my skin has been suffering lately) this was something I almost expected and not something I hold against the foundation itself.
Described by NYX as “Lightweight, waterproof and pigmented AF… Our little over achiever also works to control shine”. I have to say for the most part I agree with these statements. The coverage is just incredible for a high-street product and all unwanted shiny areas are camouflaged for hours, even more impressive considering I had tested this particular foundation on very hot days. There’s also a huge range of 45 shades which is nothing short of amazing.
On the not so amazing side, I have to admit that this foundation just isn’t for me and one I won’t be repurchasing. After a couple of hours I noticed the foundation had clung to multiple areas of my face and sunk into my pores making everything visible and pretty unflattering. I’m not the biggest fan of matte foundations but this is a result I haven’t seen before from other mattifying formulas. In general I only suffer from dry patches on my T-zone and this had caused issues in completely unexpected areas. That’s not to say you will have the same issue but it’s something I want to be honest about. I will say that in the first hour of wear the foundation almost made me feel airbrushed for the most part so this could be an ideal foundation for quick photo shoots if you want to update your Insta grid.
If you prefer a dewy finish like myself I’d suggest you pick up the *Total Control Drop Foundation instead. I guess Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop just isn’t a hit for me right now.
