Our Disney World Honeymoon

December 4, 2018 No Comments

Considering I’ve talked about a lot of the planning process leading up to the wedding and my mumblings of Disney, I thought it was only right that I talked about my honeymoon. We knew from the moment we got engaged that we would be coming back to Disney World for our honeymoon, it is after all a place I call home and have done for years. I have so many fond memories there and building more of those memories with Jase is magical in itself.

Our Disney World Honeymoon

For those of you who have never visited Disney World, it’s far too magical to even explain regardless of whether you are an “adult” or not. I personally take the Peter Pan appraoch and try not to grow up (atleast not too much).

Let’s get back on track.. we returned to Disney in November knowing that we wanted to see the Christmas celebrations again, plus it was 5 years since our engagement around this time. It was great to be back. We stayed in our favourite hotel Art Of Animation, stuck to the quick service dining plan and had been kindly upgraded to a Cars family suite. This alone was perfect. I highly suggest you take some time to explore this hotel if you get a chance. I’m not going to bore you with all of the details because writing about 14 days worth of pixie-dust-filled adventure is a little time-consuming on both parts, don’t you agree? Instead I’ll just share a few highlights.

Our Disney World Honeymoon

Happily Ever After

I’m not going to lie, when the Wishes firework show was cancelled to be replaced by Happily Ever After, I was heartbroken. I’ve been lucky enough to watch that show with my parents, grandparents and Jase and each time holds a special place in my heart. Yes it may have been outdated but I couldn’t possibly admit that. I had taken a sneak peek on YouTube when the new show was debuted and hoped that it would go beyond my expectations, especially if this was starting a new tradition when we visited. Well we watched it over and over during our trip and of course it was spectacular. I cried (obviously) and I will admit that it was a good change. I miss Wishes but Happily Ever After pulls on my heart strings just as much.

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party

We love the Christmas party and there was no way we was going to miss it. Free cookies and hot chocolate, festive fireworks, castle shows and so much more, what’s not to love? In my opinion it’s worth every penny and luckily for us, the crowd level was pretty reasonable so we ticked off a lot of rides too. It was a late night for two heavily jet lagged people but so worth it.

Garden Grill

Jase and I haven’t really explored character dining locations as a couple and we knew it was a must for our honeymoon. My favourite characters being Chip and Dale we booked Garden Grill located at Epcot. This is a restaurant I’ve always loved as a child and one I still love. I will say that if you are dining with an allergy you may find that you still have a sharing portion to eat for yourself as the “allergy sufferer” will have their own meal. I’m talking a lot of food!

Disney Springs

I’m always going to know Springs as Downtown Disney but now there’s so much more to offer (other than the much loved Disney Quest). Sephora was my top priority here and it did not disappoint. I love shopping, I love food and I love Disney so this location is my idea of heaven. The remodel is beautiful.

Flight of Passage

Well hello amazing new ride! Fly on a banshee? Sure why not! This is hands down one of the best and most immersive Disney attractions right now and I’ve never experienced anything like it. Think Soarin x 100 with a storyline to back it up. It’s nothing short of incredible and you need to do it. Just make sure you book a Fastpass.

There’s so much more I could go into like bumping into old faces and fab character experiences but I just don’t think I’d stop. I’ll just sum it up by saying we had the most amazing honeymoon and we can’t wait to go back.
