One of my pet peeves and biggest makeup regrets is going out with cakey foundation. You know, that look when you feel you need some sort of heavy duty tool to take ten layers off your face. We have all been there but let’s be honest it’s not doing anyone any favours. If you want to avoid this at all costs, here’s some tips.
Prime and Hydrate
Prepping your skin before applying foundation can make a huge difference to your final look especially if you suffer from dry skin. Use a primer to hydrate your face and to avoid foundation clinging to dry spots. A moisturiser can be helpful too.
Don’t go over the top
You may think that applying multiple layers of foundation is the way to go but this won’t achieve the flawless finish you are looking for. Instead try investing in a high-coverage foundation such as Estée Lauder’s Double Wear and apply one thin layer. Add a little concealer on areas that need a little extra attention and blend out.
Use good tools
What you use to apply your foundation comes down to personal choice but I highly suggest trying out a Beauty Blender. For me nothing gives a smooth and natural finish quite like a damp Beauty Blender. It’s easy to use and blends out for even coverage. No cakiness here!
